We all most likely have experienced it or know someone who has. The life we knew a year ago has changed forever. In these times when despair is rampant comes Purim, the most joyous festival on the Jewish calendar, to teach us that hope is alive and our future is bright. In addition to the miracle of Jewish survival despite the efforts of our enemies, Purim celebrates G‑d’s intimate involvement in every aspect of this world. Even though there were no overt miracles recorded in the Megillah — indeed, His name is not even mentioned once — G‑d was actively “pulling the strings” to care for His nation. Contrary to his evil plans, Haman’s edict catalyzed a spiritual revival among the Jews even more significant than the Covenant at Sinai. Unlike the overwhelming spiritual experience of Sinai, the Purim story compelled the Jews to accept the Torah of their own volition, even as they were scattered among the Persian people and immersed in their culture. It was in the merit of this spiritual reawakening that G‑d orchestrated their salvation. Purim is a fantastic celebration for young and old, and we hope this guide will motivate, inspire, and enhance your merriment. It contains the story of Purim and its messages, instructions for the holiday customs, a great recipe for hamantaschen, and more. Please enjoy, and when you are done, share it with your family and friends and invite them to join in the festivities of Purim. Grab your graggers and join us for the Megillah readings on Thursday Night, February 25, 2021 at 0:00 pm, and Friday Morning, February 26, 2021 at 0:00 am.
